It's early November, but it's certainly not too early to think about where you'll spend the holidays — whether that's Thanksgiving or the whole Hanukkah/Christmas/Kwanzaa deluge in late December. Plenty of Bay Area residents escape Andy Dufresne-style this time of year, but when is the best time to book flights to Mexico?

Great rhetorical question, and what a prompt for an article! Cheapflights.com has an answer and provided it to SFGATE.

If you're thinking of buying tickets to Mexico from S.F. for the holidays, the best time to book is two to four weeks in advance. More importantly, the day of the week you travel factors more into how much everything costs.

Case in point: According to the Cheapflights data, median flight prices from S.F. to Mexico remain steady throughout November, ranging between $350 and $450, round trip. But prices jump to more than $650 during the week of Thanksgiving (Nov. 25 through Dec. 1).

The best days to travel for Thanksgiving, price-wise, are Wed., Nov. 27 and returning Monday, Dec. 2, when prices hover around $550. Prices are only bound to go up as Turkey Day approaches.

Additionally, Cheapflights provided data on the top trending destinations in Mexico from San Francisco, along with how much interest was up from the previous year.
