Levi’s Stadium is heading to Flavortown this fall — in more ways than one.

Guy Fieri’s fast food restaurant Chicken Guy! is slated to debut at Levi Stadium this month as one of the latest food vendors introduced in the 2019 season.

“We’re targeting Guy Fieri to be here and the Chicken Guy! stand for our home opener against Pittsburg on Sept. 22,” Jon Severson, senior executive chef for Levy at Levi’s Stadium, said. It will also be the first Bay Area location.

Joining the lineup this season include South Bay businesses Iguanas Burritozilla, Konjoe Burger and Starbird Chicken in addition to Slice House by Tony Gemignani, owner of Tony's Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco.

Another Bay Area company making their debut is popular burger chain Super Duper, which will have one location at the stadium.

“This year we were very successful in building off of what we put in motion in the first season,” Severson said. “We’re in the early stages and I think we’ve picked some winners.”

Levy has managed Levi’s Stadium’s food concessions since they came on board in April 2018. Severson says part of their strategy has been to incorporate and develop local partnerships within the Bay Area.

They’ve also relied heavily on customer feedback for decisions on future food items. Severson said they listened to fans, including season ticket holders that go back to the Candlestick Park days, to hear what they wanted to see at the stadium. And last year, they introduced a bracket-style dish competition called “The Coin Toss” at their Touchdown Terrace, where fans were able to vote on two different dishes each game.

“Ultimately, what ended up winning made it on the menu," Severson said. "It’s a really cool crab sandwich [and] we’ve placed that in a location on our main concourse.”

The stadium also prepares its own food offerings made in house by Levy’s on-site culinary and service team. The crab roll is one of those options, but there’s also a new cheesesteak made with bulgogi. It’s prepared with Korean BBQ sauce, peppers and onions and includes a fermented Korean chili called gochujang.

As the season takes off, Severson said that guests have been enjoying the newest items and channeling their feedback through social media or through the business partners located there.
